Tour FAQs

Do I have to ride my bike all the way to the Port of Los Angeles (San Pedro)?
If you don’t live near Los Angeles you can have your bike shipped (we will recommend an experienced shipper) or you can trailer your bike, there is plenty of parking at the port. Parking fees run about $12.00 per vehicle per day. Plan to pay for your tow vehicle and your trailer.

How will I get my bike on the ship?
You will ride your bike on board and place it into a wheel chock (bike holder) and secure it with tie downs that we will provide for your convenience. The reverse will occur when disembarking. Our experienced staff will be there to assist.

Will my bike be safe while on the ship?
No one will touch your bike; the ship has security personnel and cameras that will provide surveillance 24 hours a day. Only ship personnel and our group will have access to the bikes.

Can I leave my helmet, GPS, etc. on the bike when the ship sails?
We suggest you lock the items in a compartment of your bike or take it with you to your cabin.

Will I have to drain the fuel before getting on the ship with my bike?
For safety reasons you will only be allowed to board with an 1/8th of a tank filled. If you have more than an 1/8th of a tank prior to boarding we will provide you with the address of a nearby gas station where the fuel will be safely removed.

What about fuel in Mexico?
We will provide premium fuel for your motorcycle and have experienced personnel to safely fill and remove the fuel in Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta.

Will I have full coverage insurance on my bike when it is in Mexico?
While in Mexico you will have full coverage insurance that is provided through Mexadventure Insurance. You will get a copy of the policy before you leave home.

Will I need a permit to take my Motorcycle off the ship?
Yes. We will obtain the permit for you before you leave. You will need a letter from the lien holder for permission to take the bike to Mexico. They will issue you the permission usually at no charge once you show them proof of insurance.

Can I go on my own or do I have to stay with the group?
You are highly encouraged to stay with the group and will be responsible if anything happens to you and/or your bike if you leave the group.

How much will we be riding at each port?
You are bringing your bike to ride and will ride for about 5 to 6 hours with plenty of rest stops. You will see the city and as much of the surroundings plus a feel for the open road as time allows, of course we will be stopping for lunch, sightseeing and shopping.

Are meals included?
Complementary bottled water and soft drinks will be available to you. Meals are not included.

Will our bikes and helmets be secure while we are dining or shopping?
We will have trained professional security watching your bikes, helmets and belongings the entire time you are away from them.

Do I need a helmet?
Yes. We will be on roads that require helmets under Mexican Law, but the helmet does not need D.O.T. approval.

Will there be a chase vehicle?
Yes. There will be a chase vehicle as well as escort motorcycles in front and back of the group, plus you will be able to safely store your souvenirs in the chase vehicle at no additional charge.

Can my family/friends ride in the chase vehicle?
Yes, we will have space available in the chase vehicle for guests who are not bringing their bikes. We will need to be notified in advance if anyone is planning on riding in the chase vehicle. See the “Without Bike” pricing.

How are the roads in Mexico?
We will stay only on well-paved roads and avoid any unsafe or dangerous areas.

I heard of problems with the Mexican police or bandidos causing problems for tourists. Will they be a problem?
No, in fact the police and our experienced staff will escort the group. We have been riding in Mexico for years covering countless miles and have never had a problem.

What if it rains?
Although rainy days are rare, we will tailor our tour until the rain is light or stopped.

Why can’t we tour Cabo San Lucas with our bikes?
The ship does not dock at Cabo. All passengers are taken to shore on small boats called “tenders”.

How do I pay for things in Mexico?
Almost all the businesses accept U.S. currency, charge cards, and of course Travelers Checks.
